Donuts! is an arcade-style driving game about performing tricks with a delivery truck to promote your family business. Experience the life of Mony, a Cambodian immigrant helping with her grandparents' donut store. Perform deliveries in her delivery truck, creating a buzz around the store using sick tricks and viral marketing.

Readability - Information at a glance
Due to the fast-paced, energy-filled gameplay, we want our UI to not distract from the action on the screen. UI will utilize symbols and bold colors to convey necessary information instead of blocks of text.
Personality - Elevate gameplay and narrative
Donuts! is a game that is very dedicated to illustrating the unique experiences of Mony as a Cambodian-American. We want to have a UI that opens a window into Mony’s life and how she sees the world.

Donuts! has two game modes: story and arcade mode to emulate arcade racers the gameplay was inspired by. Both modes will functionally cover the same screens, however instead of encountering a loop
Wireframes




Because our gameplay has very high energy player movement and lively setting, we wanted the UI to match the personality of the world Donuts! takes place in.
In the in-game HUD, UI elements are set to the lower half of the screen as when driving, the horizon line needs to be unobscured for the player to plan their upcoming route. In addition, all elements will be slightly skewed to match the chaotic, energy filled gameplay while having clear and simple iconography to be readable at a glance.
